About/contact
Lisa Chicoyne is an interdisciplinary artist whose work toggles the boundaries of materiality and minimalism. A strong regard for visual structure is reflected in her intuitive response to materials and process.
Examining the world and the complexities of human experience infuse her imagery and practice. Ideas and musings are evoked by anything that summons her attention. Process aids in the forming of layers revealing and obscuring meaning. There is a gut response, perhaps a glimpse into something just beyond clear comprehension.
Lisa’s work is in numerous private collections throughout the United States. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions at Edge Gallery (Denver), The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, The Sangre de Cristo Art Center (Pueblo, CO), Salina Art Center (Salina, KS), The Downtown Studio Gallery at Pikes Peak Community College (Colorado Springs, CO), Greenwich House Pottery, Sculpture Space NYC, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition and others. She earned her MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has taught at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak Community College (Colorado Springs, CO), Sugar Maples (Hunter, NY), The YMCA of Greater New York and Greenwich House Pottery (NYC) where she currently teaches paperclay. She maintains a private studio in New Jersey.
